Biology Dual Language
I am pleased to welcome you all to the world of scientific innovations. Students will learn, understand and identify Biology as an exciting class and will be launched upon new adventures in the world of investigation and examination. In this Biology class, student will learn how to appropriately implement the scientific method as well as be safely aware in the lab and in the field, think critically about the natural world, solve problems, and so much more.
I hope to make you all students as well as me as a teacher a fun learning experience and exciting one.
Course Requirements
1. Students will need to keep notes from of lectures, discussions, labs and class activities
2. A composition notebook or 1"-2 1/2 " three ring binder.
3. Charged Laptop
-Homework
Students should expect to have assigned homework at least 1 time a week. Homework
should be turned in on the due date to receive full credit.
**Academic Integrity**
Science department expectations for academic integrity will follow EPISD policy as stated in EIA Local policy manual.
A student who receives a failing grade (CH) due to academic dishonesty shall not be allowed to redo assignments or retake a test. At the discretion of the teacher, a discipline referral may be issued.
Actions constituting academic dishonesty include, but are not limited to, submitting others work as your own, copying work from another student, plagiarism, cheating, fabrication, inappropriate use of technology, falsifying documents, and allowing others to violate the academic integrity policy. Students have the responsibility to submit coursework that is the result of their own thought, research, or self-expression.
Late Work: All work is due at the beginning of each period. Any paper that is turned in after all papers have been collected the paper is late. Once the assignment has been handed back to students it will no longer be accepted as late work. Any work turned in late is worth a maximum score of 75. (This does not mean that you will receive a 75. I will grade the assignment and the MAXIMUM SCORE CAN BE UP TO A75) Assignments are considered late if they are turned in after 4pm (sharp) on the due date assigned by the teacher. Please note that late work IS accepted after 4pm on the due date but it will be considered late.
Make-up Work: It is the student responsibility to find out from another classmate what material was covered on any of the days that you were absent. There will be a“make-up box” at the front of the room, which will have a folder for each day (ONLY FOR EXCUSED ABSENCES). Students have one day for each "EXCUSED" absence to complete make-up work. Make-up exams must be done during teacher designated tutoring hours only. Absolutely NO make-up work or exams will be given for unexcused absences.
-Labs
Students are expected to behave responsibly and follow the safety contract policies during laboratory investigations. Lab reports must be completed in the lab journal turned in for a grade and returned to you for the next class day. **Students are expected to wear apron and safety goggles during labs.**
Basic Rules: Student Handbook
1. Treat everyone in the classroom with courtesy and respect. Teacher WILL NOT tolerate any disrespect.
2. Absolutely no eating or drinking of any kind in the classroom.
3. No profane or vulgar language is to be spoken for any reason.
4. Talking or Cheating during Quiz or exam will result in a grade of “0”
5. Come to class with necessary materials.(textbook, notebook, pencil, paper)
